Montauk Property Owners Survey
Montauk Property Owners Survey
The purpose of the Montauk Property Owners Survey was to understand for the first time who we are, what we think, the importance of social, political, and environmental issues affecting our lives, and how best to proceed in the future.
Over 4,000 Montauk property owners, both home and business as recorded by East Hampton Town records, were invited to participate. It was sponsored by Montauk United, in cooperation with CCOM and the Montauk Chamber of Commerce.
We hope you found the survey interesting and that you view it as a means for your voices to be heard on issues which affect all of us in Montauk.
Summary of Results
Summary of Results
Out of 3,816 property owners who received the survey, a total of 2,228 responded, which is a 58% rate. This is unheard of in surveys of this type, and reflects how much people care about Montauk and the passion with which they feel about the issues. Additionally, close to 90% of the respondents chose to add their write-in comments.
The most important issues appear to be the environment and water quality, unruly summer visitors, traffic congestion, taxis and parking, and use of the Village Green. While most people feel that progress has been made in the last year, there is still more work to do. The good news is that we are on the right track.
